Service Description

In this course, students will learn how to develop an argument while learning styles of arguments, persuasive techniques, and answering questions. A portion of the class will go over how to respond to arguments and identify which types of arguments they are responding to. Critical thinking and understanding of logical fallacies will be developed throughout the 16 weeks and the course will conclude with a presentation day to demonstrate the student's ability to construct arguments and persuade. Lesson 1: Ethos - Credibility of the speaker. Outside Sources. Lesson 2: Pathos - Emotional appeal of an argument. Lesson 3: Logos - Logical aspect of an argument. Lesson 4: Presentation - Presenting argumentation using 3 types of argumentation. Lesson 5: Critical Thinking - On-the-spot speaking Lesson 6: Methods of persuasion - 7 styles of persuasion Lesson 7: Responding to arguments - Breaking down an argument and responding. Lesson 8: Building credible arguments - Using persuasion, ethos, logos, and pathos to build strong arguments. Lesson 9: Evidence and Support - how to format evidence to strengthen your argument.
